Four injured in two-car crash on East Cork Street in Kalamazoo
COMSTOCK, MI -- Police are investigating a two-car crash on the 5500 block of East Cork Street in Comstock Township that injured four people today. Police didn't have any information on the cause of the crash that left a white SUV on its side in the middle of the road and a green sedan with front end damage on the side of the road. At least one of the injured people was taken to the hospital, according to Comstock Fire Chief Wally Culver. Comstock Fire and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene about 6 p.m.
Two Cass County drivers injured when Jones man blows stop sign and crashes into their vehicles
MILTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two people were taken to the hospital after their cars were hit at the intersection of Redfield Road and Fir Road. According to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office, at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday, Derek Snodgrass, 21, of Jones was eastbound on Redfield Road when he disregarded the stop sign at Fir Rd and collided with two other vehicles. Drivers of those vehicles were Betty Aurand, 78, of Edwardsburg and Daniel Owen, 59, of Cassopolis.
Bicyclist killed in crash at Dexter-Pinckney and North Territorial roads
A 53-year-old Dexter Township woman died Tuesday evening when the bicycle she was riding collided with a vehicle at Dexter-Pinckney and North Territorial roads, north of Dexter. The woman had been riding her bike south on Dexter-Pinckney Road when she stopped at the intersection with North Territorial to take a break, said Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrick Jackson. When she resumed riding, she came up out of a ditch along the roadway and crossed North Territorial Road, riding into the path of the vehicle, which was traveling west on North Territorial, Jackson said. It was not clear who had the right-of-way, he said. “It looks like it was a very unfortunate accident,” Jackson said. The woman was wearing a helmet and was believed to have been a very experienced bicyclist, he said. Deputies were still at the scene investigating at 9:30 p.m., he said. The intersection was closed for the investigation after the accident, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m.
Rollover crash causes injury at Davenport and Hanchett in Saginaw
SAGINAW, MI — Two cars collided at Davenport and Hanchett in Saginaw about 7:30 p.m. tonight. One person was taken to the hospital, though police said the injuries didn't appear serious. The victim was alert and responsive, police said. One of the cars overturned. The crash is still under investigation but police said they it was caused by one of the drivers running a stop sign. The road was closed for about an hour as police and a towing company cleared the scene.
5 injured in crash in Texas Township
TEXAS TOWNSHIP -- Five people were taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital after a two-car crash on West RS Avenue Wednesday afternoon. A vehicle driving eastbound on the road stopped at a stop sign then began to turn north onto South 8th Street. A southbound vehicle, which had the right of way struck the vehicle, according to a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office press release. The injuries were all non-life threatening, police say. The at-fault driver was cited for failure to yield causing an accident. Marijuana was also found in one of the vehicles. Charges are pending, police say.
